Winner of 2000 Gold Hard Hat Award, Flatiron Crossing includes over 120 acres of retail development located in Broomfield Colorado. The design challenge was weaving together four independent developer programs into a single cohesive mixed-use, transit-oriented solution. This involved the creation of an inter-modal circulation system and a continuous greenway park system that provides alternatives to the automobule including pedestrian walks, bike trails, a “Zip” shuttle transit, and RTD park-n-ride stations. The result is that the spaces between the buildings have become more exciting and important than the buildings themselves. The design was lead by Brian C. Weber as senior planner and landscape architect for the DTJ design team.
